What Will be the Sign of Your Coming?

Prophecy of Wars and Revolutions: We are continuing in our daily meditations to consider what Jesus and the apostles taught about the signs leading up to the Second Coming of Christ, found in Luke, chapter twenty-one. The first sign was a period of great deception, a time that this writer feels that we are in right now. Secondly, Jesus warned us of false religious people that will make claims that they are the Messiah or Christ. We must not be deceived! Even though there will be those seeking to deceive us into following them, Jesus told us that this is just an early sign along with wars and tumults:
9And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once.” 10Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom (Luke 21:9-10).
Deception, false leaders, wars, and revolutions are all early warning signs. Jesus warned us that nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom (v. 10). The statistics for those who died in the First World War is 31,508,200. For the Second World War, those that died amounted to 52,199,262.[1]Over eighty-three million people died from just those two world wars in the Twentieth Century, that’s without the many other wars fought by various nations against one another. In our lifetime our leaders have more efficient ways of reducing the population explosion.
During the Second World War, more than six million Jewish people were killed by the Nazis. This war brought about the return of the Jewish people to their ancient homeland of Israel. Since then, the Jewish people have fought five major wars since becoming a nation in 1948, i.e., 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, and 1982. This is not to infer that Jesus was speaking about signs just in the nation of Israel. The prophetic signs spoken by Jesus are world events (Luke 21:35), but Israel has certainly had her share of wars and revolutions.

The Lord said there would not only be wars but also tumults or revolutions (Luke 21:9). When then Prime minister of Israel, Ariel Sharon, controversially visited the Temple Mount on September 28, 2000, to pray as a Jew on their holiest site, the Palestinians rose up in a revolution. For the many years following, there has been what has become known as the First and Second Intifada, revolutions accompanied by mass bloodshed due to suicidal young men. Only the building of a security wall stopped much of the bloodshed. All over the world, we hear of unrest. This is by design. The English word revolutions are a translation of the Greek word, Akatastatos. It means:

Commotion, tumult, unruliness, disruption, disorder. It is used of political or social revolution, insurrection, sedition; riot, uprising, and disturbance.[2]

We are now facing a time when to revolt against the accepted political order is coming to all nations. The world is and will be in turmoil. This is all part and parcel of our enemy’s plan to bring chaos, fear, civil disturbance, and political revolution. In such a climate, control over the population of the earth will be easier for one man to rule over a one world government over the whole earth. This one man, the one called the Antichrist, will be given control over the whole earth: “And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation” (Revelation 13:7). Wars and revolutions are Satan’s strategy to bring it to pass.
